In January 2023, the Ban ObOun shelter began a partnership with the team of Dr. Paul Maza, lecturer in anatomy and primary care, who founded FARVets International at Cornell University (NY/USA). FARVets International, an association dedicated to promoting animal welfare in the United States and abroad through sterilization, welfare, and education.
Their mission
Every January, a team of young aspiring veterinarians, accompanied by experienced practitioners, travel to Uthai Thani, Thailand, to set up a sterilization clinic for a few days in a temple situated nearby the shelter (Wat Huay Prachan). The experience is both enriching and intense for these motivated and passionate young people, as well as for the entire Ban ObOun team. Not to mention the impact on the local community, which is discovering a new veterinary practice marked by compassion and appropriate post-operative care provided with the animal’s well-being in mind.
There is a growing demand for free and safe sterilization that respects the health of the animal, whether it is a stray dog or one with an owner.
Let's continue the adventure...
to turn around and initiate more and more actions outside the shelter’s doors.
